We grow up watching 2D movies and as the time passes, 3D version of movies appears in the cinema's. In 3D movies, you wear glasses which makes you feel like you're in the movie.
Recent advancements in technology now allow movie goers to experience another ‘dimension’ to the films they are watching. 4DX is among the one, letting you enjoy movies that literally pop out of the screen.
So, what are these 4DX theaters? Well, if you already have an experience watching 3D movies, the 4DX theaters are the next step. You will experience full of in-theater effects like moving seats and vibration, physical effects such as wind, smoke, light, water and even scents.
So last week, I had the priviledge of experiencing 4DX theater for myself with my wife. There are actually many 4DX screens in the South Korea but we went to CGV (Suwon, Korea) to have our first experience of 4DX movie. Each ticket costs around $16 – a bit high compared to the normal movie ticket of $8. Since the cost of 4DX theaters were higher than 3D one's but you will experience plenty of special effects in addition to the 3D glasses.
All seats are marked with 4DX brand & Seats are somehow raised, probably to give room to the hydraulics that would drive the motion in the seats.
Since the film we were watching was an animation movie, but still there were lots of vibrations and sudden motions happening in the seat. The awesome parts were when there was a scene related to water than we were sprayed with water, when the scene comes of thunderstorm than suddenly lightning bolt flashes from dark front corner side of theater. There were wind effects, rain effects, smoke effects, scent effects. Don't worry you need not carry your umbrella's with you ;-) since very small proportion is used to give you feel of the scene.
Hold on !!! please be careful if you are holding some food or drinks during movie (You might end up spilling your food or drinks).
By the time movie ended, everyone’s reactions will be how they enjoyed the experience, and not the movie (though movie was good too). For me i enjoyed it and I am sure to come back for another experience in the future.
I strongly recommend to give preference to 4DX over 3D, if you have 4DX theater nearby your place.
